School Supply List 2018/19

We wanted to share some information with you to help you plan for the start of school.  If you are a returning Ladera family, you will likely remember that in years past we have offered a school supply “kit” for purchase through our PTO. These kits ranged in cost from $50-$100, and included supplies for your students personal use as well as community supplies for the whole class.  You may also have noticed that we DID NOT send out information regarding these kits at the end of last school year.  As we continually work at improving our systems here at Ladera, we have made some changes to this process.  Here are the details you need to know to help you and your student(s) be prepared on the first day of school:

  1. Teachers will purchase the majority of the supplies that students will use during the school year.  We are asking that each family donate $20 per student to help differ these expenses. You’ll notice this is much less than previously charged for the kits (yay!).  We will begin collecting this donation on the first day of school. These supplies will be for all students in the class to use.

  2. Many students also like to have their own personal items, with their own personal flair, as well as many students enjoy the actual activity of school supply shopping.  If this describes your student (or you ;) we recommend the following items:

Grades K, 1, 2, 4, 5*

  • One 1” three ring binder

  • Scissors

  • Coloring utensils of their preference

  • Pencil pouch/box (small)

  • Personal pencil sharpener

*For 5th grade ONLY, in addition to the above listed,

  • A keyboard to use with their iPad is recommended

Grade 3

  • One 1” three ring binder

  • One ream of white paper

  • One box of Kleenex

  • Clorox Wipes

  • One packet of wide ruled lined paper

If you are feeling in a particularly generous spirit, and would like to do more, teachers will always gladly and gratefully accept the following donated items:

  • Disinfectant wipes

  • Kleenex/tissues

  • White copy paper

  • White lined paper (grades 3-5)

  • Large format hand sanitizer

We hope that this information will help you in your planning and preparation for the new school year.  Please note that your donations are extremely appreciated, however not required. If you have any questions, please email Holly Smyth at hsmyth@tustin.k12.ca.us for help.

See you soon!
